(1) To be a candidate for promotion in a vacant service position, one must have worked for four years in a position one grade or level below the grade or level to be promoted.
(2) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-rule (1), the period of service as per this rule shall not be required for promotion to the post of Deputy Inspector General of Police.
(3) For the post of Deputy Inspector General of Police, which does not require a minimum period of service for promotion as per sub-rule (2), if the period of three years has been reached in the lower post, and if the period of three years has not been reached, the period of employment in the position one level below the existing post. The average score obtained from the performance evaluation of the last three years will be calculated.
